Crash Team Rumble's Halloween Event

As I've recently acquired a PS5 in celebration of my new job, I've been playing a fair bit of Crash Team Rumble in the run up to Halloween. Now, I'm a massive fan of Halloween, perhaps more than many in the UK, so I'm absolutely all for seasonal, spoopy aesthetics during this time of year. Crash Team Rumble is no exception.

So, what's involved in Crash Team Rumble's Halloween event?

First off, all battle maps have been darkened and are full of jack-o-lanterns to give off Halloween vibes. Secondly, the new map, Smaz Junct- uh, I mean, Jazz Junction has been made available with full Off Beat assets from Crash Bandicoot 4. Most importantly, though, every map now has random barrels where you can find sweets / candy to unlock goodies (as confirmed by developers, Toys For Bob).

As part of Crash Team Rumble's Halloween event, you can earn a bone-chilling skin for every character. Okay, they're not that scary (just skeleton suits), but it's still pretty cool. From 19th to 31st October, barrels with delicious sweets / candy will appear on every map during competitive mode. It's simply a case of smashing these and collecting the lollipops and gummy bears to build up your special Halloween battle pass rank. You can also head to the new map, Jazz Junction, and activate the Epic Relic Station to build up these points for those delicious skele-skins.

Looking ahead for CTR

Since it's launch, Crash Team Rumble has received plenty of maps and modes to spice things up. It's nice to see it thriving right now and have seasonal additions supported. However, I'm interested to see if anything will change for the long-term following publisher, Activision Blizzard's recent acquisition by Microsoft. I look forward to seeing what other extras will come to the game in the coming months, including new characters like Ripto from Spyro the Dragon...
