Crash: On the Run Launches

Crash: On the Run Launches!

Crash Bandicoot: On the Run has finally launched on mobile! King, the developers and juggernauts of the mobile world, have clearly put a lot of care into the package too, with its launch trailer already showing off some familiar faces in their own simplistic style. You can view the trailer here:

I've deliberately been a bit hesitant about revealing details for On the Run, but I daresay that comes from my own reticence of mobile games. That being said, On the Run looks charmingly colourful and well worth the play if you're into that runner-style game.

A Return to Form

On the Run: Season 1 has been titled "The Return of Nitros Oxide!"

On the Run: Season 1 has been titled "The Return of Nitros Oxide!"

One of the key things I've found particularly compelling is that On the Run includes characters from all across the series. So, not only will you find the delightful faces of Dr. Nitrus Brio (Crash Bandicoot, Naughty Dog, 1996) and a Scorporilla in there (Crash of the Titans, Radical Entertainment, 2007), but also characters as obscure as Mr. Crumb (Crash Bandicoot 99x, Tiger, 1998). That sort of thing excites fans, such as myself, and sort of canonically places it after the events of Mind Over Mutant (Radical Entertainment, 2008).

Not only is the game now available to download, but King instantly announced a Season 1 theme - The Return of Nitros Oxide! That is a good indicator that other 'seasons' are planned for the game too, although we shall see what these will be and how involved they will be. For now, we can enjoy the green Gasmoxian as he looms over our Bandicoot heroes.

No Contest

Also, in case you fancied a blue hyena Crash figure (and who doesn't), the official On the Run Twitter announced a competition to win it. The aim of this is to design your own Crash Bandicoot mobile phone case. Makes sense! All you need to do is get crafty and share your creation with the hashtag #CrashOnTheRunArt before 31st March 2021.

What are you waiting for, On the Run fans?

Unsurprisingly, On the Run's launch has already catapulted it to the best selling spot on the iOS's app store. This comes from the game being launched two days early on the platform, compared to its official date of 25th March.

It's crate to see so much support for On the Run given the strange behind-the-scenes fallout the past couple of months have had with the Crash franchise (that no-one truly knows the details of). Heck, the game has been a long time coming, as you may remember from my post from literally a year ago now. So, I wish everyone all the best with downloading it and getting to play in what is a unique game for the Crash series.
