Evolution (Poem)

Evolution

Existence explodes from a melodic Big Bang,
Extravagant words gift the tongue with tang;
Poetry in motion is the gravity of one
Selecting commotion for sentences of fun;
Individual words glued – a planet is formed,
The author concocts meaning – the reader informed.
Life sprouts from sentences as time begins to tick,
Forming new forms where the media is a trick;
Death everyday as the world decays more
Until meaning is lost, rhyme, choice and metaphor.
Gaze becomes clearer from the mists of the wood to the lights of the city,
The evolution of poetry has taken a turn for the revolutionary kind;
No longer are humans concerned with what is seen everywhere and ask questions
About life and death as if their existence doesn’t explain itself and they need knowledge.
A new language spawns from their mouths, filling others’ hearts and open for interpretation;
It congests the streets, causes hunger and murders the poem.
Time has evolved this poetry into something which has no form and has no breath.
Just words.
The world collapses and the words scatter, revealing the only thing left of new and old;
The core – Meaning.
Contemporary veins of the modern world have taken what once was and have created what will be,
The meaning is left for all to think of as the fabric of poetry unravels and so does knowledge.
I was once God and I have been murdered.
