Asterismal

Asterismal

Within midnight the stars come together,

Radiant, magnetic, all to align,

A fleeting dream for recall forever.

In this black hole – the void or the nether,

The shade is extinguished in glows of shine,

Empty no more in gravity’s tether.

Sub-giants, pulsars, red dwarfs together,

Conversing as if no passing of time

Has kept them away – seemingly never.

Their photospheres dance in close endeavour,

And some sharing tints of deep crimson wine,

But there’s no love lost - none whatsoever.

Orbit jerks and apart they must sever,

Pulled on their journeys by some grand design,

Some of them braving dark, stormy weather.

In two years’ time, like birds of a feather,

Their paths will cross and their light intertwine,

Prisms of warmth all throughout the aether

…But let’s make it sooner, altogether.
