Cycle The Month

Throughout May, I'm taking part in what's known as Cycle The Month. The aim of this is to cycle 100 miles on my own, and 300 miles as a collective team alongside people from my workplace, in order to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

So far, I've found this rather difficult. It's been a long time since I properly cycled, with most of that time being before university, now scarily over a decade ago. Well, I suppose there was that one time where I worked for Argos's contact centre and they wanted me to work New Year's Day and there we no transport links, so I cycled 15 miles there and 15 miles back at night on a fold-up bike. I remember I didn't get home until 1:00 a.m. and I had a morning shift the next day. Screw Argos, seriously. *Ahem.* But besides that, I haven't really cycled in a long time, so I've found this challenge very tough thus far. My body isn't used to it and I'm unfit, but I'll keep going (and dying) until the challenge is complete!

I've been posting daily stories on both my personal Instagram account and my workplace's, keeping a record of the daily cycling. I figure as long as I do a little bit here and there, I can get through it. I think the biggest problem are the hills in this area, which are quite frankly the status quo. That and the botched gears on the bike I'm using. Going up all those steep and persistent hills has been quite taxing and meaning I don't cover as much distance as I'd like. Still, I'll keep going.

If you would like to donate to the cause, then by all means don't let me stop you! You can donate at the Prostate Cancer UK's Just Giving page, here.

Until next time, adios!
